Be sure to check your UCR email account often for important communication from our office and others.

The process of applying for services, particularly if you are coming directly from high school, may be different from what you've done before.  Some general information about the transition from high school to the University is available here, as well as in an excellent booklet provided by the U.S. Department of Education, "Students with Disabilities Preparing for Postsecondary Education: Know Your Rights and Responsibilities."  This booklet may be obtained, in English and Spanish, from our office.  Applying for services includes providing documentation of your disability and its functional limitations to the SSD office.  Forms are provided for the convenience of your physician, psychologist, or other certifiying professional.

The Checklist for Requesting Services describes each step for obtaining services at UCR.  You should familiarize yourself with this process as soon as you have decided to attend UCR in order to ensure that your services are in place at the beginning of your first term.
